Anthem New Update Out Now, Cataclysm Footage to be Revealed Tomorrow

After a few weeks of silence, BioWare and EA are finally ready to show off more of the future of Anthem.

It has been a strange past month or so for BioWare and Anthem. After stumbling out of the gate at release back in February, BioWare and EA ended up delaying all of the game’s planned content updates indefinitely to further iron out the many issues that were plaguing the experience. This resulted in all news surrounding the game to fall completely silent over the past few weeks, leaving many to wonder about the game’s status moving forward.

As of this morning though, BioWare finally broke that silence and in the process released a new update for Anthem. Game update 1.2.0 for Anthem is live right now and it contains a whole multitude of various fixes. The list of changes is too extensive to run down here, but the gist of what has been changed deals with bug fixes, alterations to each Javelin, and some other updates to freeplay and other missions. You can read the full patch notes over on EA’s website if you’d like.

Along with releasing the update though, BioWare also finally spoke out about the future of Anthem a bit more. Over on EA’s forums, a community manager posted a message stating that more information on Cataclysm, the game’s first major post-launch update, is coming soon. The message stated that the team at BioWare has been taking its time with Cataclysm to make sure that they can get it right.

“Rather than rush it out the door, we want to take time and get feedback from you and make changes based on what we hear,” said the message. “In order to do that we are releasing a Public Test Server (PTS) on PC, which will allow you to see the content as it is being developed and gives you the ability to provide feedback. While this won’t immediately solve all of the current issues, we want to continue to hear from you as we make improvements to Anthem – and the PTS is a great way to do that.”

Lastly, the note ended by saying that the first footage from Cataclysm will be live streamed tomorrow on Twitch and Mixer. The stream is set to take place at 4pm EST and should give players a better idea of what to expect once it finally releases.

Whether or not Cataclysm will be enough to bring players back to Anthem remains to be seen, but at least BioWare still seems like they’re trying to turn this ship around rather than abandoning it altogether. As of now, Anthem is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
