Anthem's PS4 Crashing Issue to Be Fixed in an Upcoming Patch Next Week
BioWare says that the issue with Anthem has resulted in no bricked PS4s from what they have found.
It has been a tumultuous week for BioWare as the studio has been busy trying to fix an error on the PS4 version of Anthem that has caused the console to crash while playing the game. Fortunately, it seems like the error causing this problem has been found and BioWare will soon be pushing out a patch to fix the console crashing.
During a recent live stream on Twitch, BioWare producer Ben Irving said that the team discovered “a bunch of things that were causing crashes.” He went on to say that they will soon be addressed in an upcoming patch that is planned to release on March 12.
BioWare’s Chad Robertson also chimed in on Twitter to say that the console crashing shouldn’t damage your own PS4 if this has happened to you. “Fixes for the top issues are in patch next week. If you encounter a game crash where your PS4 console won’t respond, you can manually power down and restart it – no risk of damage,” he stated.
Furthermore, it was stressed that these issues with Anthem on PS4 have led to no bricking of consoles, despite what some players have previously claimed. “After thorough review, we have not encountered an instance where Anthem has ‘bricked’ a PS4 console. If you are experiencing anything different, please reach out to @EAHelp so we can track the incident and investigate,” said Robertson.
While it’s good that BioWare has been able to quickly discover a fix to this problem, it’s a shame that it happened in the first place. With Anthem already getting off to a rough start following some less-than-stellar review scores, for the game to then have a bug such as this surely is doing BioWare and EA no favors to create more sales.
Anthem is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
