It has been a big week for Apex Legends fans, with the launch of the highly anticipated next-gen update, as well as the beginning of the Warriors Collection Event. But, with April Fools 2022 officially here, fans are eager to know what the Apex Legends developers have in-store today.
For the last two years, fans have been treated to the Golden Mozambique Shotgun Pistol variant, which was only made available on April 1st and has a larger magazine, faster fire rate, and higher damage per bullet, making it a bit of a beast.
However, this year things could be a little different. On March 21st, Apex Legends developer Josh Medina confirmed they had already finished work on this year's April Fools prank. So, what can Apex Legends players expect on April Fools Day 2022?

Apex Legends April Fools Day 2022
UPDATE: The Apex Legends April Fools Day Event is now live in-game, players can jump in now to play.
ORIGINAL STORY: According to various leakers and data miners such as ThordanSmash, the Apex Legends game files suggest this year's April Fools day prank won't be the Golden Mozambique like it has been in previous years.
Instead, it looks like fans can expect something revolving around Nessie the monster and spiders. However, Ian Holsted, a gameplay programmer for Apex Legends did recently reply to Biast12 suggesting that the April Fools prank wouldn't be related to spiders.
ThordanSmash also revealed that the in-game files suggest something surrounding "spider projectiles". But it's possible that the in-game files were just placed there to throw data miners off the scent of what was actually about to happen in Apex Legends.
Fellow data miner Shrugtal has stated that the Apex Legends April Fools prank for 2022 will begin at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 6PM BST. So make sure to check back in with DualShockers then as we will be updating this article with the full details.
