Apex Legends is now in its 15th season and has over 23 playable characters. In a game that features a myriad of weapons, maps, and a roster of twenty-three playable characters, starting up Apex can seem like a daunting experience, especially as a newcomer.

Sometimes players will need to rely on their own devices and persevere in a fight without the help of their comrades, and that is where the legend you play as will be most important. This list will outline the most user-friendly Legends for new and returning players.

10 Rampart

Rampart wielding minigun Sheila in Apex

The amped modder, Rampart, offers a splendid fusion of defensive and offensive capabilities. Her passive provides a 15% increase in magazines and a 25% decrease in reload time for all LMGs. LMGs are generally user-friendly as they offer plenty of ammo per magazine, meaning you can keep spraying bullets while the enemy reloads.

Adding insult to injury, you can use her Amped Cover tactical ability to provide cover and a 20% increase from outgoing damage. These walls are best placed in front of doorways but can provide cover in a pinch if you're in an open area. Her ultimate allows you to equip a mobile minigun that can mow down enemies quickly, but be mindful as this will slow down your movement speed and can be used by enemies when placed down somewhere.

9 Loba

Lola looking down at battlefield in Apex

This high-class thief is a team favorite, as Loba offers synergy with almost any squad due to her unique abilities. Her tactical, Burglar's Best Friend, tosses out a bracelet that lets you immediately teleport to where it lands. This is a great "get out of jail free card" in case you are under fire and on the verge of getting knocked down.

Loba's ultimate, Black Market Boutique, opens up a shop that teleports loot within a 110-meter radius to you and your team's inventory. This ability alone makes Loba worthwhile, as anyone from your team can instantly access the black market and find valuable weapons attachments and rare items. Loba excels with a good team, and generally, wherever she goes, her teammates will follow.

8 Octane

Octane warming up in Apex Legends

Apex has gigantic maps that can take ages to traverse, but for Octane, it's just a walk in the park. Octane's most useful ability is his tactical, Stim, which costs 20 health but increases his running speed dramatically. Not only can you get around faster, but it also makes it much harder for enemies to hit you. The reduction of health is mitigated thanks to his passive which recovers one HP every second.

Octane's ultimate, Launch Pad, drops a jump pad launching anyone that touches it into the air, is as fun as it is practical. This should be used defensively as it can provide an escape route from enemies or help stay ahead of the ever-enclosing circle. Combine this with a Stim, and you will be able to fly all over the map.

7 Caustic

Caustic standing in front of gas cloud in Apex

This tanking mad scientist character is an interesting defensive character that only becomes more powerful the longer a match goes on. His tactical ability deploys a canister that releases poisonous gasses that ignore shields and damage enemies while slightly blinding them. Use these religiously around doors and other entrances to get the drop on enemy squads.

Caustic's ultimate allows you to throw a poisonous grenade that mimics the effects of his tactical but in a larger area. Players should aim to stay out of the limelight and avoid combat until the end when enemy squads must push, causing them to walk into a nox-filled trap.

6 Mirage

Mirage holding gun while surrounded

Mirage is a niche, but undeniably fun character to play as in Apex and shines in lower-level lobbies. His main abilities revolve around his hologram technology, which allows him to make controllable clones to mimic his movements or run a straight line. Anytime an enemy attacks a clone, their location is revealed to the player.

His ultimate briefly makes himself invisible while deploying several holograms allowing you to infiltrate enemy lines undetected and surprise squads. Mirage's tactical has diminishing returns at higher-level lobbies, but thanks to his ultimate and passive, which makes him invisible while reviving and respawning teammates, Mirage can hold his own.

5 Lifeline

Lifeline sitting on DOC drone in Apex

Lifeline is your dedicated healer and a wonderful asset to any team composition. Her D.O.C. drone can revive downed allies while you fire at enemies simultaneously and heal you and your teammates in a pinch. Having her drone revive allies is terrific since you don't have to spend time or expose yourself while doing it yourself.

Lifeline's ultimate calls down a care package that provides armor, med kits, and weapon attachments of all varieties. You can also use this ability to provide cover for yourself and your squad if you have little coverage. When playing as Lifeline, stay back and provide support, as other Legends are better equipped to fight on the front lines.

4 Wraith

Apex turning around in Apex

The interdimensional skirmisher, Wraith, is a crowd favorite among pro and new players alike. Her tactical is one of the best escape abilities in the game as it makes her invulnerable to all incoming damage while allowing her to reposition herself. Her passive informs the player when an enemy has her within their sights, and her ultimate opens a portal to be used freely by anyone.

What she lacks in offensive abilities, Wraith makes up for in speed and incredible versatility. If you are swarmed in a firefight, use her tactical to reposition yourself to a better position to attack or heal. Wraith's metaphorical skill ceiling is high, but she is easy to learn and will pay off in spades if properly utilized. Remember that you're on a team, so don't go solo.

3 Bangalore

Bangalore smirking while holding a rifle

The veteran soldier has seen little modification compared to other characters in Apex, and for good reason. Bangalore is a well-balanced character that offers offensive and defensive features, such as her passive ability which increase her running speed by 30% for two seconds. This doesn't seem like much, but Double Time is one of the best passives in the game.

Her tactical launches projectiles that release white smoke, blinding enemy players or providing cover for your squad, making it a versatile tool that can be used almost anytime. Her ultimate takes some getting used to but is best used to draw out enemy squads from hiding spots. Bangalore may not be top-tier, but she is extremely easy to use.

2 Gibraltar

Gibraltar laughing in Apex

Gibraltar, otherwise known as Gibby, is another Legend from day one and remains user-friendly and powerful. His tactical deploys a large dome shield that blocks incoming and outgoing damage, making it a near-perfect fortress to protect against enemies and heal your squad. His passive provides a shield worth an additional 50 HP of coverage when firing.

Gibby is not only defensive but can unleash a bombardment of mortar strikes in a concentrated area with his ultimate ability. Combining his Defensive Bombardment with his Dome of Protection is a match made in Heaven but should be used when swarmed. Gibraltar is regarded as one of the best characters and is straightforward enough for anyone to play.

1 Bloodhound

Bloodhound holding crow in Apex

Bloodhound, the recon Legend, is one of the best characters to play as and, luckily, one of the easiest to learn. Bloodhound's tactical ability can scan everything in front of them within 75 meters, revealing any enemies, traps, and other clues. This insight provides loads of information for your team that can quickly prepare them for what's to come. Bloodhound's ultimate increases movement speed by 30%, and reduces the tactical cooldown to eight seconds while making enemies appear bright red for a whopping 30 seconds.

If that wasn't enough, the duration can be increased whenever you down an enemy. Bloodhound's ability to reveal information in a fight is invaluable and helps your squad. There are plenty of characters to choose from when playing Apex Legends, but these are the easiest to pick up as they don't require too much know-how to get going. At the end of the day, play the character you most enjoy, practice a lot, and you'll be a champion no matter who you pick.
