Respawn Entertainment has revealed that the new Apex Legends Storm Point map arriving in Season 11 is the game's biggest yet, and is made to seamlessly evolve alongside the game's live service updates.

DualShockers were lucky enough to be invited to a special preview event for the upcoming Season of Apex Legends, Escape. As well as some hands-on time with Ash, Storm Point, and the new C.A.R SMG, the developers also gave us an insight into the design process of their biggest map yet.

Storm Point Is Designed To "Seamlessly Evolve"

One of the biggest pieces of content arriving in Season 11 is the brand new tropical-themed Battle Royale map, Storm Point. As mentioned previously, this will be the game's biggest map yet, and will be 15% bigger than World's Edge, which previously held the record for largest Apex Legends map.

Storm Point is located on the planet Gaia, and was once an energy colony for the IMC. Many have attempted to create a home on Storm Point, but venomous spiders and roaming prowlers have made that impossible.

After having some hands-on time with Storm Point it quickly became clear that players are going to have a blast with the map's wide variety of layouts, all of which make for unique experiences when in battle. The new Gravity Canons offers a new way to rotate, as well as giving you a quick escape if an enemy has the upper hand on you. Although it was incredibly frustrating seeing an enemy slip away via a Gravity Canon, it was also satisfying being on the other end and successfully evading death.

The introduction of spiders and the return of prowlers also allows you a different way of collecting loot. Or if you're tactical enough, shooting the spider sacks and releasing them on your enemies is also a good way to cause carnage.

Storm Point itself is also visually stunning, the beauty of the colourful plants and clear blue ocean is a stark contrast to the chaotic battles and wildlife that are on the island.

One of the most intriguing things about Storm Point is that it has been designed to "evolve alongside the game's live service updates for years down the road", unlike the previous Apex Legends maps that were "designed with a singular experience in mind", according to Respawn Entertainment's Team Director, Steven Ferreira.

Ferreira followed up this statement when asked about the future of map growth by reiterating that Storm Point was designed with future updates in mind. He said that the updates to Storm Point will "less likely be destructive in nature and more additive in nature".

It certainly seems as if the team at Respawn Entertainment have big plans for the map moving forward, whether the nature of these "additive" updates means more POIS, an increase in the map size, more wildlife, or something else is yet to be seen.

One thing's for sure though, we can't wait to jump into Storm Point when it launches with Season 11 on November 2nd.
