Ciel nosurge, Ar nosurge Remasters in Japan Have A 1000$ Limited Edition

Koei Tecmo and Gust revealed new details on Surge Concerto DX, the remasters of Ciel nosurge and Ar nosurge, most notably unveiling a new limited edition.

On October 7, Koei Tecmo and Gust fully opened the official site for Ciel nosurge DX and Ar nosurge DX, the remasters coming to PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam on January 28, 2021, in Japan. Note that while both the remasters are referred together as Surge Concerto DX, the two games will be sold separately. Be sure to read our past coverage on the Ciel nosurge and Ar nosurge remasters before delving further.

The official site first explains how Ciel nosurge DX is based on Ciel nosurge Offline, and Ar nosurge DX is based on Ar nosurge Plus. Both games’ graphics have been updated to current-gen standards. So players can fully enjoy the cuteness of Ion and Casty.

Next, both remasters include the original games’ paid DLCs. These add additional episodes, costumes, accessories, and functions.

Three limited edition containing both games and goods were announced. The biggest one is nearly 1000$ and most notably contains a music box, a dakimakura cover, and mini figures. The pictures for each Limited Edition are pretty self-explanatory if you’re planning to import:

Samples of the illustrations used on shop-specific preorder goods were revealed. They’re in the gallery below. Again, if you’re planning on importing, you can check which shop has which good via the dedicated official page. I’m sure you can manage all that without my translations.

If you check the replies and the quotes of the tweet announcing the Limited Edition, you’ll notice there are Japanese fans pretty angry about the pricing. Noting it’s a shame Koei Tecmo isn’t selling the Limited Edition’s goods separately.

Lastly, the artwork for the remasters’ game cover were published:

Surge Concerto was directed by Akira Tsuchiya, who also handles most of the OST. He was also the key developer of the Ar Tonelico series. Ar Tonelico and Surge Concerto form together the EXA_PICO Universe.

Koei Tecmo hasn’t announced the two remasters in the West yet, but they should come over in English seeing a Steam release is planned.

If it happens, it will be the first time Ciel nosurge is localized. At the very least, Ar nosurge DX should definitely come over seeing it already has a localization.
