Ar Tonelico 3 Announced for the PS3

If you’re a fan of niche RPG developer Gust and publisher NIS, you’re in for another treat come next year.  The PS3 has been sorely lacking any RPG meat for a while.  It has been getting better recently, but we need more.  NIS will deliver, with another in their Ar Tonelico franchise, according to the latest Famitsu magazine.  I played the first two Ar Tonelico games for the PS2 and enjoyed them quite a lot.  They still sit in my game library.  Just like the Atelier series (another Gust/NIS collaboration), Ar Tonelico 3 looks to move the franchise from 2D, sprite-based visuals to the realm of 3D.

Not a whole lot is known about the title at this point, including whether or not the game will have a Western release.  Although, considering the fact that the two previous titles in the franchise were released in North America, it’s a pretty good bet.  Oh, and we have a Japanese release date – January 28, 2010.  This definitely looks to be another awesome effort from the guys at Gust.
