Today is bright day for fans of the cult fighting series Guilty Gear. Arc System Works, the developer of the acclaimed series, has secured the rights to the IP. In the past, these rights belonged to Sammy (now called Sega Sammy), the publisher of the games. Confirmation comes both by way of ACW themselves and via a trademark filed for Guilty Gear over in Japan.

This dilemma has most likely been a rather large contributing factor to the lack of new Guilty Gear games being created and released. Until now that is. Now that the developers themselves own the IP, they can create a new game uninhibited. With the rights to its baby in-hand, Arc System Works may finally get a move on bringing us a new GG. After all, series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari did confirm one and confirmed that it would be good.
