1047 Games, the developers behind the hugely popular shooter Splitgate, have announced that the game's servers will be down today (August 4) for some server maintenance.

It's no secret that Splitgate has shot into the mainstream spotlight almost overnight. But, the massive surge in popularity has meant the developers have struggled to keep up.

Ever since the release of the crossplay beta back in July, Splitgate's servers have been somewhat of a talking point amongst the community. With wait times just to play sometimes reaching 90 minutes or more.

The developers have reassured players that they are beginning to increase server capacity and that this is not something that can be done overnight. Part of their work to increase server capacity and reduce queue times means that the servers will be taken offline today for some short maintenance. Here's when you'll be able to jump back in.

Are Splitgate Servers Down Today? (August 4)

There's no need to worry, your internet connection is still working correctly. If you're encountering errors with Splitgate it's because the servers will be down today (August 4) for some short maintenance. The developers announced the downtime over on their official Twitter account.

Any error messages or long queue times you receive in Splitgate today are likely related to the scheduled downtime.

How Long Will Splitgate's Servers Be Down?

UPDATE:

The developers have announced that the servers will be taken offline at 6AM PT for time period of up to 1 hour. This means that if all goes according to plan, the Splitgate servers should be brought back online at the following times:

  • 7AM PT
  • 10 AM ET
  • 3PM BST

Should the server downtime be extended, we will update this article with the relevant information.

What Is The Server Maintenance For?

According to 1047 Games, today's server downtime is required to increase the overall capacity of their servers and generally improve optimization.

This has been the most common problem with the Splitgate servers, as the large influx of players was not expected by the developers and their servers simply weren't designed for such a large amount of players.

Hopefully, after today's maintenance, queue times should be shorter and server capacity increased.
