August 14, 2021

The latest Pokemon GO Community Day is upon us and it’s one that may feel a little familiar to long-time players.

Stepping into the spotlight for the first time since 2018, and for an extended two day period, is none other than Eevee and all eight of its evolutions.

This time out the Eevee and all of its evolutions will receive a new special move, which could certainly shake up the meta.

So, with those moves in mind, let’s look at whether Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon are good in Pokemon GO, their best movesets and how they do in PVP.

Is Vaporeon Good in Pokemon GO? Best Moveset and Max CP Explained

Relative to the other two Kanto Eeveelutions, Flareon and Jolteon, Vaporeon is pretty good. Relative to other Pokemon in Pokemon GO, it’s not great.

PVPoke ranks the Water-type evolution as the 184th best Pokemon in the Great League, the 225th best in the Ultra League and the 121st best in the Master League.

If you plan on using it, the Master League is definitely your best option, with Vaporeon picking up wins against Togekiss, Groudon, Metagross, Ho-Oh and Landorus. However, just be aware there are better options.

If you do choose to use Vaporeon, this is its best moveset:

  • Fast Move – Water Gun
  • Charge Move – Aqua Tail
  • Charge Move – Last Resort

What you may notice is that Vaporeon’s 2021 Community Day move isn’t listed. That’s because it’s no better than what the Pokemon already had!

In terms of max CP, at level 40, Vaporeon hits 3114 and at 50, when powered up with XL Candies, it reaches a very respectable 3521!

Is Jolteon Good in Pokemon GO? Best Moveset and Max CP Explained

Jolteon doesn’t really match Vaporeon in any areas. Firstly its max CP comes in at 2888 at level 40 and 3265 at level 50.

In terms of PVP performance, Jolteon is also lacklustre. It blazes in at 420th place in the Great League, does marginally better in the Ultra League, coming in as the 320th best pick and is the 198th best in the Master League.

It does take some big scalps in the Master League, including Togekiss, Yveltal, Kyogre and Zapdos, but ultimately, it’s going to be very glassy.

If you do decide to use it, Jolteon’s best moveset is:

  • Fast Move – Water Gun
  • Charge Move – Aqua Tail
  • Charge Move – Last Resort

Like Vaporeon, Jolteon’s new Community Day move isn’t worth using.

Is Flareon Good in Pokemon GO? Best Moveset and Max CP Explained

We then move onto Eevee’s Fire-type evolution, Flareon, which is undoubtedly the worst of the bunch.

While it has a better max CP than Jolteon (level 40: 3029/level 50: 3424) it performs worse in every division.

PVPoke ranks it as 495th, 338th and 211th across the Great, Ultra and Master Leagues respectively and it really struggles to make a mark.

You’re definitely best avoiding using if possible, however, if you do, Flareon’s best moveset is:

  • Fast Move – Fire Spin
  • Charge Move – Superpower
  • Charge Move – Flamethrower
