Earlier this week, an annual report from Digital Domain stated that ARK 2 would be released in Spring 2025. Studio Wildcard has since clarified that this isn't accurate and is "likely a typo."

When asked for clarification by GamesRadar, Studio Wildcard responded by saying that it had "no idea where that came from," whilst also theorizing that the release date included in the report is "likely just a typo." DualShockers has reached out to Digital Domain to clarify whether or not this was a miscommunication between the studios. We are yet to receive a response, but as soon as we do, this article will be updated.

Although ARK 2 is being developed by Studio Wildcard, Digital Domain was brought on board as a support studio to assist with various in-game assets. Despite being just a support studio on the project, the company's annual report seemed to have revealed yet another delay for ARK 2. On page 17 of the report, Digital Domain said it is "continuing its relationship with the team from Studio Wildcard as they prepare for the highly anticipated release of ARK 2, the follow up to its award-winning predecessor, ARK."

The studio continued by saying that it "anticipates being intimately involved in all aspects of the project through the game’s release in spring of 2025." This, of course, took fans by surprise, as Studio Wildcard had only just announced a delay for ARK 2 last month, which pushed the game into 2024.

Now Studio Wildcard is refuting the 2025 delay, suggesting that it is likely just a typo. If that's true, ARK 2 is still set to release in late 2024, as confirmed early last month. Alongside the delay, the studio also announced a current-gen remaster for Ark: Survival Evolved, but the reveal was met with heavy backlash from fans.

Not only was the upgrade going to be full price, even for existing owners, it also wasn't originally going to include any canon DLC packs. Following the intense backlash from the Ark community, Studio Wildcard backtracked on its plans and confirmed that it would be included all DLC packs at no extra cost. Unfortunately, existing owners will still need to pay full price for the Unreal Engine 5 remaster.
