While most know Vin Diesel as the face of the Fast and the Furious franchise, the long-time actor is making the jump from car chases to chasing dinosaurs in the upcoming Ark 2. The sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved was announced last week during The Game Awards 2020, and while the actor will be starring in the upcoming title, it was also revealed that he'll have a much larger role in shaping Studio Wildcard's survival game follow-up.

Studio Wildcard has shared some additional details on Ark 2 after its debut last week at The Game Awards, which showed cinematic footage from the upcoming game and revealed that Vin Diesel will star in the game as Santiago Da Costa (while also making an appearance in the upcoming animated series). Over on Xbox Wire, Studio Wildcard also revealed that Vin Diesel will be an executive producer on Ark 2, while noting that the actor is an immense fan of the franchise and has put over 1,000 hours into the original game.

Alongside Diesel's involvement with the game, Studio Wildcard also revealed that Ark 2 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S as a console launch exclusive, and that it is expected to release in 2022. Presumably we'll see the title make its way over to PC and PS5, though it appears (for now) that the game will debut at first on Xbox platforms like Survival Evolved before it.

At the moment there isn't much that we know about Ark 2, but Studio Wildcard gave a bit of a preview of what to expect from the next-gen survival game. Specifically, the studio noted that players in the sequel will "be thrust into a brutal new world of primitive survival against both beast and man," and that Ark 2 will "continue Ark's dramatic eons-spanning story of humankind's evolution."

Ark 2 is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S, with other platforms to be announced at a later date. Currently, the game is expected to launch sometime in 2022.
