As we’ve reported on before, Batman: Arkham Origins will be launching with the promise of a plethora of skins similar to that of the selection in 2011’s Batman: Arkham City. Among them are the Adam West 60’s TV show, Knightfall, The Long Halloween, Earth-2, Thrillkiller, One Million, and Worst Nightmare costumes.
Eric Holmes, Creative Director on the title, confirmed to a fan via Twitter that these costumes will only be available for use in the main game after one playthrough has been completed. This is due to the fact that there are crucial pre-rendered cutscenes interspersed throughout the game, and having Batman switch in and out of various costumes would be a detriment to the game’s immersion and continuity. Along with New Game+ mode, gamers will be able to unlock all of their available skins after completing the single-player campaign for the first time.
Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC on October 25th, 2013. A Vita/3DS version of the game, Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate, is also in development by Armature Studio and will be released on the same day.
