Arma 3 from Bohemia Interactive Turns 6 Today
Arma 3 for PC turns 6 today, and Bohemia Interactive has voiced their intention to support the game via Creator DLC going forward.
Believe it or not, Bohemia Interactive’s Arma 3 released six years ago today. Why Arma 2 may be a bit more popular due to its association with DayZ, Arma 3 has still managed to deliver a robust military simulation game to over 5 million players. While Bohemia Interactive did confirm that it “is shifting its focus from Arma 3 to future projects and technology,” they will be supporting the game going forward through Creator DLC. They have also remixed “This is War” to celebrate this anniversary, and you can listen to that below:
But first, stats. Outside of the aforementioned 5 million players, Arma 3 maintains a monthly average of 450,000 unique users, has over 65,000 items on the Steam Workshop, and has an average playtime of 150 hours per player. That’s pretty impressive for a six year old game. As Bohemia Interactive’s first Creator DLC, Global Mobilization – Cold War Germany, sold over 50,000 units, Bohemia Interactive realized that creator DLC would be a good way to sustain Arma 3’s still active player base. Under this system, Bohemia Interactive publishes content made for Arma 3 by third party developers. While they didn’t reveal anything today, Bohemia Interactive did promise that more Creator DLC is coming over the next year.
Bohemia Interactive is also hosting a large sale to celebrate Arma 3’s anniversary. Almost everything is discounted by at least $25, so now seems like a good time to pick up the game or DLC that you may have mixed. This sale will be going on until September 16. Arma 3 is available now on PC.
