Coming out in April 11, the Arma 3 Tanks DLC will come out with an accompanied major platform update. Players of Arma 3 all around will receive new gameplay features with other content, such as new variants of to the Offroad Pickup and Light Strike Vehicles that carry mounted launchers, two new anti-tank launchers, a new multiplayer mode called 'Vanguard', Time Trial Challenges, and new decorative items when using the in-game 'Scenario Editor'.

Included with the free platform update (version 1.82) is the 'Fire-Control System', an auto-ranging, auto-zeroing targeting option while fighting against or while using an armored vehicle. It calculates the lead for when taking the first shot. New missile flight profiles and capabilities give the option of a top-down or direct attack mode. Also, terrain-following munitions will be supported in the update, along with a selection of weapons with abilities of locking-on after launch.

The last, but not least of this update comes the fully-modeled 3D interiors for every Arma 3 armored vehicle. Improved handling has also been enhanced for armored vehicles, as well as new vehicle audio. New customization options for these vehicles are also available, along with an 'extended damage model'.

The Arma 3 Tanks DLC has five key features that will be available this April. A mini-campaign called 'Altis Requiem' puts you in the shoes of an AAF tank commander during the vanilla Arma 3 campaign, 'The East Wind'. During this three single player scenarios, you will get your hands on two of the new DLC tanks, the AWC Nyx, and the main battle tank T-140 Angara. This campaign has different endings, all achieved through certain aspects in performance and playstyle.

The T-140 is a Russian designed Main Battle Tank (MBT) that will be of the CSAT faction. Clad with intense armor and wielding a 125 m cannon with three options of ammunition, this tank's effective cannon range is higher than the majority of tanks from the West. The T-140K 'Commander' version of this tank replaces the 12.7 mm heavy machine gun with a 30mm autocannon. Both versions of the T-140 also have a 7.62 coaxial machine gun.

The AWC Nyx is an 'Armored Weapons Carrier' modified by the AAF. It's a faster, more mobile vehicle with smaller proportions. It can be used as an anti-air unit, an anti-tank unit, a recon unit, or even come an an autocannon variant. 7.62 ammunition will not be able to penetrate through the Nyx's armor jacket, but other liveries can be added to this new armored vehicle for specific priorities in protection or weapons during missions or battlefield entertainment.

The Rhino MGS UP is the next armored vehicle included in the Tanks DLC, and it packs a punch with its 120 mm cannon with optional MARUK ATGM rounds. It also has a .338 magnum machine gun, and a UP variant that throws in an additional remote 12.7 heavy machine gun turret and optional cage and ERA armor. Being limited on transport space and with more weight than the MGS, the UP is more standard for operations in urban settings.

A single player scenario called Showcase Tank Destroyers puts you on the Rhino MGS UP as a NATO crewman. You can maneuver the Rhino quite swiftly with its lack of armor, but don't underestimate it. The firepower it wields is comparable to that of a Main Battle Tank.

The Arma 3 Tanks DLC will be available on April 11 for $11.99, or comes at a discount with the Arma 3 DLC Bundle 2, which includes Jets DLC, Laws of War DLC, Tac-Ops Mission Pack DLC, and Tanks DLC fr $24.99. Want to see more on the Arma 3 Tanks DLC? Check out the gallery below:
