Reddit is a strange place. A vortex of weird and unusual posts, but that's what makes it so great. Over the past couple of weeks, we've seen the likes of a Nintendo fan creating a switcher site over on the popular community website. Well, now we have yet another strangely horrifying post to add to the overflowing content that brings people all over the world to view in its hoards.

Reddit user and pixel artist u/LumpyTouch has put together a rather grotesque spin on the loveable comic cat from the 1970s, which was first created by Jim Davis. This seems to be a theme of late on the internet as recently we saw Chicago artist Shawn Bowers combining Super Smash Bros. characters with everyone’s favorite pussycat.

LumpyTouch has told other users that he takes his inspiration from another fellow artist called William Burke who makes, in his own words, "nightmares and video games". In his work, you can see where "LumpyTouch" got his ideas from as they both have that dark and disturbing undercurrent to them.

Naturally, many people on Reddit wanted to comment on the gross take the artist took on the presumably innocent, Garfield:
