The Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming MMORPG by Intrepid Studios Ashes of Creation just ended, and the final tally is $3,271,809 from 19,576 backers.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Ashes of Creation is defined as a an open-world, non-faction based, no P2W, high-fantasy MMORPG, and will include an ever-changing and evolving world, seasons, dynamic economy and player-driven stories, an extensive housing system and more. On paper, it's definitely something that many MMORPG players would love, so it's not surprising that its campaign has been so successful, even in a time in which Kickstarter is definitely less popular than it used to be.

The original goal was just $750,000, which means that Ashes of Creation more than quadrupled it.

To celebrate the end of the campaign, Intrepid Studios released two videos. One is an atmospheric and rather epic trailer showing the world of the game, and the second is a tour of the studio. You can enjoy both at the bottom of the post.

The game has an estimate release on PC of December 2018, and no other platforms have been announced. Interestingly, Intrepid Studios talked about it as a franchise in the making, so we might get more than just a MMORPG in the future, if the first game is successful.

Just yesterday, it passed $3,000,000, unlocking the very last stretch goal, meaning that backers will get the full suite of features that the developers envisioned.

Personally, I can't help feeling some strong Everquest Next vibes from this game, that appears to incorporate quite a few elements of the philosophy at the base of Sony Online Entertainment's MMORPG that got canceled in the wake of the sale of the company.

If you want to see more of Ashes of Creation before you enjoy the videos below, you can check out more mage gameplay and a starting area, the monster coins systemthe freeholds housing system, and a 30 minute video from yesterday, showing a quest, a dungeon, the winter season and more.
