Asphalt 9: Legends is Bringing Free-to-Play Racing to Nintendo Switch Next Month
Free-to-play racing game Asphalt 9: Legends for Nintendo Switch will finally be launching on October 8.
Just before E3, Gameloft revealed that it would be bringing the Asphalt racing game series to Nintendo Switch. While the series did begin with a presence on Nintendo DS, it is heavily associated with iOS and Android nowadays. Asphalt 9: Legends released on Andoird, iOS, and PC last year, but it is also coming to Nintendo Switch as a free-to-play title. Today, Gameloft confirmed that the Nintendo Switch port of Asphalt 9: Legends will finally be launching on October 8.
October 8 is turning out to be a pretty major day for games this year as Concrete Genie, The Alliance Alive HD Remastered, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Layer, Indivisible, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, and now Asphalt 9: Legends are all coming out on that day. While the final version of the game will be free-to-play, it can already be pre-purchased on the Nintendo eShop. Interestingly, Gameloft has also made the decision to not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership for online play.
As for the game itself, Asphalt 9: Legends will feature a single-player campaign, 8-player multiplayer races, and a ton of licensed cars. In addition, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will exclusively feature a four-player local split-screen mode, online and offline quick races, and a red and blue decal inspired by Joy-Cons for the BMW Z4 LCI E89.
Asphalt 9: Legends is available now on iOS, Android, and PC and will be coming to Nintendo Switch on October 8.
