Just before E3, Gameloft revealed that it would be bringing the Asphalt racing game series to Nintendo Switch. While the series did begin with a presence on Nintendo DS, it is heavily associated with iOS and Android nowadays. Asphalt 9: Legends released on Andoird, iOS, and PC last year, but it is also coming to Nintendo Switch as a free-to-play title. Today, Gameloft confirmed that the Nintendo Switch port of Asphalt 9: Legends will finally be launching on October 8.

October 8 is turning out to be a pretty major day for games this year as Concrete Genie, The Alliance Alive HD Remastered, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible LayerIndivisible, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, and now Asphalt 9: Legends are all coming out on that day. While the final version of the game will be free-to-play, it can already be pre-purchased on the Nintendo eShop. Interestingly, Gameloft has also made the decision to not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership for online play.

As for the game itself, Asphalt 9: Legends will feature a single-player campaign, 8-player multiplayer races, and a ton of licensed cars. In addition, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will exclusively feature a four-player local split-screen mode, online and offline quick races, and a red and blue decal inspired by Joy-Cons for the BMW Z4 LCI E89.

Asphalt 9: Legends is available now on iOS, Android, and PC and will be coming to Nintendo Switch on October 8.
