The upcoming Ubisoft Forward showcase is nearing, yet it seems its scheduled announcements cannot stay under wraps. The publisher had previously confirmed a special part of the presentation would be dedicated to the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise, however, we keep on hearing more and more about what this future will look like, prior to the showcase. Images of the next Assassin's Creed title, Mirage, leaked several days ago, coincidentally resulting in Ubisoft officially revealing the game a day later, along with the statement, "We can't wait to tell you more on September 10 at Ubisoft Forward."RELATED: Ubisoft Delay Decommissioning Of Old Assassin's Creed GamesNow, industry insiders are reporting that the showcase will reveal two more Assassin's Creed games, which are set to launch in the years following Mirage; it was first reported by Try Hard Guides, and then corroborated by Bloomberg. Ubisoft Quebec, the team behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey, is developing a title codenamed Project Red, which is set in Japan. The other title, being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind Assassin's Creed Valhalla, is codenamed Project Hexe. The latter is set in 16th century Europe, will focus on "witch trials," and was described as the "darkest" game in the series. Both titles will be part of Assassin's Creed Infinity, another leaked project whose details are slim. As far as it's been reported, Infinity will be a live-service hub-like platform that will allow players to enter various games, or perhaps worlds, within the franchise. A third game will be shown off as well, but this one is exclusively a mobile title. All that's known about the mobile game, the so-called Project Jade, is that it will be set in China.

Tom Henderson, the writer of the Try Hard Guides article gave further details on Twitter, revealing the game's projected release dates. If this information is true, and if no significant delays occur, Ubisoft could have three titles planned for the next four years; a stark change from the franchise's current structure, as since 2018, only two Assassin's Creed titles have been released.

It was previously unofficially reported that Mirage would be a smaller-scale Assassin's Creed title, that will bring back the original games' focus on stealth and assassinations. If all these reports are true, it would seem that Ubisoft is readjusting its strategy, and looking to up the output on the amount of AC titles released per generation. A questionable business move, given that Valhalla, which was the result of a 2-year wait between games, was the series' most successful entry ever.
