Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s Naval Exploration Video Brings Me Back on Board with the Franchise

I have to begrudgingly admit that after the departure of Ezio from the Assassin’s Creed franchise my inclination to dedicate attention to it has gone down quite steeply, until today. Ubisoft released a video dev diary starring Game Director Ashraf Ismail as he shows off and explains how naval exploration will be done once the game will be released. And boy, it looks beyond awesome.

Sailing around the Caribbeans on our pirate galleon avoiding storms and boarding random ships? Check. Jumping around freely between ships during boarding actions? Check. Conquering forts to create our own network of bases? Check. Upgrading and customizing your very own ship and fleet? Check. Big open world? Check.

Basically Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag seems to be doing right everything Risen 2 has done wrong, recreating that lovely Pirate experience and pushing heavily on the naval aspect. Will it play as well as it looks? We can only hope, but in the meanwhile check out the video.
