After some heavy leaks on Assassin's Creed Mirage on social media, Ubisoft officially unveiled Assassin's Creed Mirage as the next game in the series, promising a full reveal at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward showcase.

A few weeks earlier, multiple sources on YouTube and Twitter started to leak new information on the next Assassin's Creed game called Mirage. Yesterday, we got our first look at an official image from the game that was leaked from Ubisoft Store, which left no chance for the French publisher to keep the surprise a secret until its upcoming showcase.

As a result, Ubisoft officially confirmed that Assassin's Creed Mirage will be the next game in the series. You can expect a full announcement on September 10 at 3 pm ET/9 pm CEST when the Ubisoft Forward showcase goes live. It's yet to be seen if Ubisoft would share new information on Assassin's Creed Infinity, which is going to be the next big thing in the franchise.

The new image that Ubisoft officially shared for Assassin's Creed Mirage almost confirms most of the speculated information on the game. In the background of the image, you can spot a mosque which confirms that the game is set in an Islamic region, which is apparently Baghdad.

It remains unknown who would be the new protagonist of the game and if it would have any ties with the original Assassin's Creed's Altair, as the location of the game is pretty much close to that of the original game, though we don't know anything about the time of the Mirage's events.

According to the leaks, Mirage will bring the series back to its origins in the case of gameplay, which means you will get to play a stealth-based action-adventure game rather than an RPG. If it turns out to be true, then Mirage could be a huge surprise for the fans that don't like the current direction of the series.

That being said, Assassin's Creed as an RPG is already set in stone, and you will still find the bigger entries of the series with heavy RPG elements.

Currently, there is no information on if Mirage would be a next-gen-only game.
