Assassin's Creed Valhalla is currently the biggest upcoming launch from Ubisoft for this year and the French giant is trying to keep the hype up by providing an opportunity for Uplay users to play Assassin's Creed Origins for free for a limited time.

Revealed just a few hours ago, Assassin's Creed Origins will be available for free as of June 19 until June 21st over at Uplay. The game is currently hit by an 80% discount at Ubisoft Store. The upcoming free weekend could probably be the best opportunity to experience the game before submitting a purchase.

Assassin's Creed Origins is one of the most important titles of the whole series as it changed the direction of the franchise from a stealth-focused third-person action to a melee-action-focused RPG. So, if you would like to know the origin of the current overhauled Assassin's Creed games, you will need to play Origins.

For the first time ever, in Origins, you will visit an African country, ancient Egypt, during its most glorious era. Playing as Bayek, you will be tasked to protect the people from a secret group of wealthy emperors who control all the regions of Egypt with their heavily-armored army. Aside from protecting people, there's a personal story between you and the secret crew as well, which makes the narrative more engaging.

Assassin's Creed Origins launched back in 2017 and received mostly positive reviews from media for its beautiful world-building, brand new gameplay mechanics, and intriguing story. However, a part of the franchise's community criticized the game for adding the new RPG elements and forgetting to be loyal to the previous entries of the Assassin's Creed series.

That being said, Ubisoft has promised to bring back some of the main Assassin's Creed features with Valhalla, which is set to be launched in Holiday 2020 for next-gen and current-gen platforms.
