Assassin’s Creed Unity Xbox One Marketing Deal Will Send People Skulking in Akihabara in Japan

While the marketing deal between Microsoft and Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed Unity will bring spiffy Xbox One bundles in the west, Japan will get something special. Ubisoft and Microsoft teamed up to launch a slightly weird but interesting event named Akiba Stealth, scheduled to happen on November 2nd.

100 gamers selected randomly (you can apply here if you happen to be around Tokyo) will be prompted to stalk the shadows of the Akihabara district to imitate assassins and win prizes. To be fair, there won’t be many shadows, because the event is scheduled to happen from noon to 6 PM.

Participants will use an iBeacon detecting app and will have to search for an “artifact” hidden in the district, however security guards will try to catch them. Our heroic wannabe assassins will have to use the crowd as a decoy and avoid the guards, while grabbing the artifact and reaching a safe zone.

The winner will receive an Xbox One, while the second and third ranked will be given a package of “Assassin’s Creed Goods.” All participants will also get an Assassin’s Creed Unity parka.

In before someone really gets arrested by Tokyo’s ever-vigilant metropolitan police. They normally don’t like it very much when you skulk.
