One of the best things that developers and publishers have been offering since the arrival of the new generation of consoles, is the ability to get a free 9th-gen version of the game you have already bought on your 8th-gen consoles. That being said, it seems some players on PS5 have some serious issues with redeeming their free upgrade for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion.

As reported by Eurogamer, Ubisoft is currently aware of the problem with redeeming PS4 versions of Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla on PS5 for getting the next-gen version. As per players, the only way to get your free upgrade right now is to create a new PSN account and set its region to Turkey, though Ubisoft offers another way temporarily.

According to Ubisoft's support team, players need to put the PS4 disc of the game in PS5 and then find the "View Product" section from the game's hub menu. There you can probably see an option for downloading or purchasing the free upgrade. Be aware that after downloading the upgraded PS5 version, you will still need to have the disc in your console every time you attempt to play.

The problem with the instruction above is that some players have reported that there was no "View Product" section in their game's hub menu. This seems to be the main problem for most of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla/Watch Dogs Legion owners.

It's yet to be known what's the source of the problem, but regarding the fact that Xbox users haven't reported such issues yet, it seems something must have been wrong on PlayStation's end.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion are currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Stadia, and PC through Epic Games Store.
