Today, publisher Microïds and developer OSome announced Asterix & Obelix XXL 3, a new entry in the video game series based on the French comic Asterix for a late 2019 release. They also revealed that a remake of Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 will hit PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on November 29.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 will be a faithful remaster of the 2005 PC and PS2 game, which follows the titular characters as they tackle challenges in an amusement park set up by Julius Caesar. This remaster will have both Limited and Collectors physical edition. Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 Limited Edition will come with the game and three small figurines, while the Collectors Edition will include the base game, a resin figure, and other mysterious contents that will be unveiled at a later date.

Meanwhile, Asterix & Obelix XXL 3 is coming to the same platforms "at the end of 2019." According to the developers, the game will include a brand new original story, and follow the titular characters as they explore, fight, and solve puzzles. The game will also include co-op, and is being described as an action-adventure game, though there are currently no screenshots.

Elliot Grassiano, Vice President of Microïds, had the following to say about the revival of the Asterix & Obelix XXL series:

"It’s a great honor to put the Asterix and Obelix XXL series back at center stage! We are delighted to bring players a new game in this intergenerational franchise."
