This week's Astral Chain developer's blog stars user interface programmer Akinori Tabuchi (who previously covered the the interface design in Part One and Part Two of the dev blogs) talks about a pretty nifty feature.

Later on in the game, once you've completed a certain case, you’ll get a very special add-on for the camera called the Pixelizer. To demonstrate its function, shown below is a normal screenshot of the Neuron command room:

But when you activate the Pixelizer and then take a screenshot of the same area:

According to Tabuchi, "once you’ve found the Pixelizer, you’ll have access to it whenever you use your camera. That means you’ll be able to see and photograph the Ark and its inhabitants in full pixelated glory in real time."

And while it's certainly not a mechanic that contributes to the overall function of the game, it's nice to see developers get to put in fun features like this. And even nicer when they get to share that passion and excitement for said feature with others -- especially with all the players already enjoying the game it's included in.

If you want to see more of the Pixelizer in action, check out the gallery below for some really cool screenshots that Tabuchi took straight from the game:

There’s also several previous developer blogs that delve deeper into the title from the visual effects to sound design to art direction to the music to the environments themselves.

The title received some lovely post-launch artwork from both the NieR:Automata and Bayonetta’s character designers. The official PlatinumGames Twitter account also released new art from the studio’s main artist Hajime Kimura, celebrating the title’s success.

Astral Chain launched exclusively for Nintendo Switch and you can order it right now on Amazon. If you need some more convincing before you do, check out our review of the game here.
