PlatinumGames' latest Switch-exclusive action game Astral Chain is due out in about two months time. If Platinum has its way though, this won't be the last we've seen of the new franchise moving forward.

Speaking to IGN Netherlands, Astral Chain's director Takahisa Taura opened up a bit more about the plans that Platinum has for the game after launch. Taura was first off asked if fans should expect DLC for Astral Chain and Taura confirmed that it's currently not in the cards. However, just because DLC isn't coming doesn't mean this will mark the end of Astral Chain.

Taura went on to say that as long as the game ends up selling well, Platinum is hoping that Astral Chain will be the first game in a larger trilogy. "We make the game as a trilogy and this is the first part of that trilogy. If this game sells well, then we may see how the story of the series continues," Taura said via translation.

So there you have it. If you want more stylish action games featuring cops in the future, you should probably consider supporting Astral Chain once it releases. Of course, we still don't know how the game will turn out, but from what we've seen so far, it looks pretty promising. Hopefully, that ends up being true.

Astral Chain is set to release later this summer on August 30 and will be arriving exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
