If you've been craving for some brand new content for the indie game Astroneer then today is your lucky day. Developer System Era Softworks has officially announced that the title has been updated to v.0.5.0.0, which adds a ton of new content.

The patch, which is titled the Research Update, includes two brand new features, which are called the Catalog and Research Chamber respectively. The former allows players to spend Bytes, a new form of currency, in order to unlock blueprints, while the latter allows you inspect items around the world. The update also includes some UI improvements, a new tutorial, bug fixes, a new soundtrack, and more.

The new update signifies the game's transition into the Alpha stage of development, which comes one year after the title's initial release.

To celebrate this tremendous achievement, Astroneer is on sale for the first time since the game's launch. On Steam, players will be able to get the game for 20% off, bringing the price down from $19.99 to $15.99, while the Xbox Live version of the game 15% for all players, with Xbox Live Gold members will receive a 25% discount.

You can check out a trailer for the Research Update at the end of the article.

Astroneer was originally released on December 16, 2016, and, as previously mentioned, is only available on Windows PC and Xbox One.
