Gust and Koei Tecmo hosted a special livestream event to show off gameplay video from Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings, coming to PlayStation 4, Switch, and PlayStation Vita on December 21 in Japan, and PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC in North America and Europe in early 2018.

The footage shown during the hour long livestream includs many elements that are a staple of the more modern Atelier series. In this entry, players will interact with recognizable and new character from the Mysterious trilogy, including Firis and Liane from Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey.

Additionally, players can get a preview of the game's new alchemy system that blends elements for Atelier Sophie and Firis to create an accessible new way to create items. The game will build upon the open world style of gameplay that was introduced in Atelier Firis, and from the preview the world seems much more populated and refined.

Lastly, the livestream shows off the battle system which allows three characters to be on the field with three others in reserve. Furthermore, the game is turn based and has a few new partner skills that have not been seen in other entries of the trilogy.
