Atelier Ryza 2: New Characters, Synthesis Details, Ryza 1 Tops 500K Copies
Atelier Ryza 2 introduces new characters: the aristocratic sword-user Patricia "Patty" Abelheim, her father Volker, and the thief Clifford Diswell.
Koei Tecmo and Gust revealed new details on Atelier Ryza 2: new features in the synthesis system and new characters appearing in this sequel. Everything is included below.
New synthesis features
Atelier Ryza 2 features Reisalin leaving Kurken Island to visit the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird. She opens an atelier there and explores surrounding ruins with new actions previously detailed like climbing and swimming. Atelier Ryza 2 will keep the Linkage Synthesis system from the previous entry. but with two new features: “Essence,” and “Evolution Link “.
Essence lets you alter the elemental trait of an item during synthesis, changing the essence of a Material Loop and the final result. Meanwhile, Evolution Link allows you to fuse two fully synthesized items together to create unique items.
Next up, we have three new characters appearing in Atelier Ryza 2:
Patricia ‘Patty’ Abelheim (voiced by Naomi Ozora)
The daughter of a wealthy aristocratic family in the capital.
Tao is her private tutor and they’re really close. She was raised in a perfect environment and always had everything she needed, but that didn’t make it a happy upbringing. Patty’s father Volker Abelheim taught her how to use the sword. He’s an ex-knight to the royal family.
Clifford Diswell (Eiji Takemoto)
Clifford calls himself a treasure hunter, but more like a thief. He’s incredibly dexterous and showcases a playful behavior, but can also act serious at times.
Volker Abelheim (Tarusuke Shingaki)
Volker was initially a commoner, but became one of the best knights of the kingdom, and was granted nobility. He is very strict on himself, acting as a noble at all times. This reflected on the education of his daughter.
Volker doesn’t seem to be a party member.
Koei Tecmo also announced Atelier Ryza 1 shipped over 500,000 copies in the world. Toridamono drew an illustration for the occasion. Ryza’s seiyuu Yuri Noguchi was really happy about it on Twitter.
