In the last segment of the episode, we saw Eren's massive transformation into the Founding Titan. He also starts the Rumbling and conveys his message to all the subjects of Ymir. Eren makes it clear that he wants to end all life outside the walls because that's the only way for his people to survive.

Ymir was born a normal human and was enslaved along with thousands of other people by King Fritz. And on an unfortunate day, Fritz orders his men to use Ymir for their hunting sport. Ymir gets badly injured, and while running, she sees a massive tree. She goes inside the tree through an opening and falls into a well, where a creature merges with Ymir, giving her the powers of Founding Titan.

Attack on Titan Parasite Looks a Lot Like Hallucigenia

Now, the identity and origin of the parasite are unclear both in manga and anime. Some believe that it was a God who pitied Ymir and gave her the powers of Founding Titan, while others believe that the parasite was the source of all life on the planet. Nevertheless, what's truly interesting is that the parasite shown in the episode looks a lot like Hallucigenia.

Apparently, Hallucigenia is one of the oldest creatures that existed on Earth around 500 million years ago during the Cambrian period. Simon Conway-Morris discovered the fossils of the extinct genus in 1977. The description for Hallucigenia states that it had around ten pairs of slender legs. And when you compare the AOT parasite and Hallucigenia's model side by side, you can clearly see the resemblance. So, it's no wonder that several fans are confident that the Founding Titan parasite is the fictional representation of Hallucigenia.
