About Robert Zak

Rob is Lead Features Editor at DualShockers, and has been playing games since hijacking his sister's NES in the early 90s. Instead of outgrowing them, decided to make a life out of ranting about them.

When he's not ranting about the hot topics of the day in gaming, you'll probably find him on the floor of a walk-in wardrobe, laptop perched on his knees, hyper-optimising games on PS1 emulators.

Favorite Games and Genres

'Mood' has always been a driving force. Stealth games, from Thief to Splinter Cell to Dishonored, as well as interesting indie experiments that are oozing in thick atmosphere. Serve me up a Scorn or a (good) Silent Hill, and I'm there for it.

Stealth games, immersive sims, RPGs, Metroidvanias, platformers, you-name it.

So long as it's not a JRPG I'll play it (and maybe I'll finally play one of those one day too)

Industry Focus

Industry trends, going deep with developers on the making of games, crunching numbers and converting them into commentary, and sharing tales of my adventures in games - whether that's about the joy of stomping Necromorphs in Dead Space, or wondering whether Baldur's Gate 3 really needed to go so hard on the hanky-panky.

First Game Console and Preferred Platforms

Bizarrely, Rob owned an NES from the early 90s all the way through to '98 when he got an N64, skipping over the entire 16-bit era. Around the same time he got his first gaming PC, which was subsequently backed up by each generation of PlayStation to this day (though now he's holding off for a PS5 Pro because he can't stand the oversized white behemoth that is the baseline PS5).
