Avalon Hill Announces Scooby-Doo Betrayal at Mystery Mansion
Jinkies, this looks like a board game match made in heaven.
In what might be the most perfect mash-up in board games, Avalon Hill announced that they are working on a Scooby-Doo-themed Betrayal at House on the Hill. It’s really tough to think of anything else more perfectly suited for each other. Give it a look below.

I would assume you know what Scooby-Doo is, but in case you’ve been living under a rock since the late 60s, it’s a kids mystery show starring a talking dog. It is among the most highly-regarded classic cartoons and is still getting movies and spin-offs to this day. Betrayal at House on the Hill isn’t quite as old (2004), but is also a classic in its genre.
The board game sees you entering a mansion that’s constantly shifting from game to game. Each time you play, you’ll randomly generate the mansion with three decks of room tiles. As you move through the house, you’ll gain new items and skills, but at some point, the “haunt” begins. Basically, this is another randomly generated event that forces one or more players to “betray” everyone else and take on the role of the game’s monster. Because of all the random elements, the game does have some fiddliness to it; however, if you’re looking for a fun, spooky game with friends, you can’t go wrong with Betrayal at House on the Hill.
And now Avalon Hill is tossing a heaping helping of Scooby-Doo over the top? I cannot wait to try out each and every one of the 25 new haunts coming with the game. Scooby-Doo Betrayal at Mystery Mansion looks like the perfect addition to a family board game night and you won’t have to wait long to pick it up. The game releases May 15 and Avalon Hill has opened up pre-orders this week.
