If you’ve not yet dipped into the finest 2D MOBA available on consoles, you’re missing out, big time.
Awesomenauts comes from Dutch development studio Ronimo Games who released the cartoony MOBA back in 2012 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Since then it’s been updated heavily on PC and it’s practically a different game from what released all those years ago. Unfortunately the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions didn’t receive the love they deserved and have been left to rot due to the game publishers insolvency, something Ronimo had no control over.
However, since then Ronimo has self published Awesomenauts on the PS4 under the revised name ‘Awesomenauts: Assemble!‘ and it’s set to release on the Xbox One sometime this year.
The PS4 version is pretty close to the PC release, though it still lags behind a little in terms of updates but it’s still a far cry from the PS3/Xbox version.
What’s strange is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 version have recently been rated again by the ESRB, though there’s no indication that there’s any new additions to the old-gen versions.
Also, the ratings board lists the game’s publisher as the now defunct dtp entertainment AG, so what this new ESRB rating means is unclear.
This writer is in the process of pestering the folks at Ronimo for more information and should they decide to spill the beans, updates will be posted here.
