It’s been some time since the physical version of Thomas Happ’s indie darling — titled Axiom Verge: Mutliverse Edition — was announced in February of this year. And, despite a brief delay out of a planned August release date, Axiom Verge: Multiverse Edition finally has a release date coming to consoles a week from today on November 21, 2017.
Revealed in new Amazon listings and in a blog post by publisher BadLand Publishing, players can expect exactly what was promised in the original announcement. Specifically, the following items on all consoles:
- Copy of the game disc/cartridge.
- Deluxe booklet with developer’s commentary and art.
- Double-sided poster with the world map and weapons/items in the game.
- Exclusive making-of documentary.
The Nintendo Switch version comes as a more premium edition, also including Axiom Verge’s official soundtrack. of course, that bonus version comes with a premium price. While the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Wii U version retail at $29.99, the Nintendo Switch version is only available at $39.99.
Axiom Verge is by far one of the most notable Metroidvania games this generation, originally releasing on March 31, 2015 for PlayStation 4. Since then, the game has been ported to PC, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. In many ways, Axiom Verge plays like a love letter to previous games in the Metroidvania genre, with clear influence from games like Metroid, Contra, and Bionic Commando.
