Among the multiple titles revealed during the pre-show for the Xbox Games Showcase is Balan Wonderworld, a new title from Square Enix being created by the minds behind the original Sonic The Hedgehog games: Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima.

Described by Naka as the "action game of action games," Balan Wonderworld puts players in the shoes of a character just reaching a turning point in their life. They arrive in a wonderous, colorful world filled with wacky characters to guide them through it. Of course, the bizarre land of Wonderworld can't be explored on just two legs. The game's main character can don costumes that grant them different powers and abilities that make trekking across the dreamscape a touch easier.

Although we don't know much about Balan Wonderworld, the description for the game's trailer does give us some hints. Wonderworld will consist of "twelve different tales" which could simply translate into twelve different worlds to explore. Besides that, info on the game is fairly barebones, although the trailer does also offer a peek at the game's antagonist - a strange creature that seems to corrupt anything with a single touch.

More information is sure to come on Balan Wonderworld as we approach its release date of Spring 2021. Balan Wonderland will be coming  to Xbox consoles: both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It'll also be coming to all other platforms: Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam. For those looking to pick up the game on the current-gen Xbox console, Balan Wonderworld will also be shipping with Smart Delivery.
