Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access Sales Are Already “Insane,” Says Larian CEO

With its launch in Early Access this week, Baldur's Gate 3 has already gotten off to an impressive start on PC and Mac.

As the successor to the acclaimed and iconic series, Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally released in Early Access this week to the anticipation of RPG fans everywhere. Coming from developer Larian Studios–known for the Divinity: Original Sin series–it seems like Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to deliver on a massive, in-depth RPG for fans to enjoy. Given the anticipation that has built around the game over the last year, it isn’t much of a surprise that the game already seems to be off to a successful start in Early Access.

With the launch of the Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke shared on Twitter that the sales for the game so far have been “insane,” even with the game debuting in its work-in-progress state. Additionally, Larian Studios mentioned on Twitter that the game’s launch “broke Steam,” with the game currently topping the bestsellers chart on Steam globally.

Alongside the game’s Early Access launch success, Vincke explained that the reception for the game so far has been “amazing and overwhelming,” and that Larian is at work on initial patches and updates to correct reported bugs and performance issues. Specifically, he explained that the first updates for the Early Access build should “solve the most common problems” that users are experiencing and reporting so far.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now in Early Access on PC and Mac. For more on the game, stay tuned for our upcoming review of the Early Access version.
