Baldur’s Gate 3 Announced for Google Stadia
Baldur's Gate 3 from Divinity: Original Sin 2 developers Larian Studios is real and coming to Google Stadia.
Last week, DualShockers spotted that Lairan Studios was teasing something on their website and speculation soon started to swirl that this game was actually Baldur’s Gate 3. This rumor was soon substantiated by industry insider Liam Robertson, who revealed with the help of Spawn Wave that Baldur’s Gate 3 was real and is a title for Google Stadia. Following through on the teases and rumors, Google’s Stadia Connect Stream kicked off with the announcement of Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out the reveal trailer below.
As Baldur’s Gate 3 is developed by Larian Studios, we can only hope that this new game meets the same level of quality of Divinity: Original Sin 2. The BioWare developed Baldur’s Gate and its sequel are some of the most important games ever made, influencing countless games with RPG mechanics, so Baldur’s Gate 3 definitely has a lot to live up to.
That being said, Swen Vincke, Creative Director at Larian Studios, seems confident in his studio’s game. “Baldur’s Gate means so much to so many people. It’s a great responsibility but I think we’re ready for it. We’re all about creating reactive, systemic worlds that respect player agency and having a chance to apply our team’s skillset in a universe as rich as Dungeons & Dragons is a lot of fun. We’re working very closely with Wizards to bring an unprecedented level of immersion to the realm of Faerun and I can’t wait to show the world what our team cooked up,” he said.
If you want a refresher on the entire series before Baldur’s Gate 3 comes out, Beamdog and Skybound Games are bringing the games to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch physically and digitally this fall. Outside of the new Baldur’s Gate, Larian Studios is also working with Logic Artists on Divinity: Fallen Heroes, a tactics game for PC.
You can check out the Stadia Connect stream, which is still currently running, below. Baldur’s Gate 3 will be available for PC and Google Stadia at launch.
