Baldur’s Gate 3 Will be Launching “When It’s Ready”
Baldur's Gate 3 will feature multiple iconic creatures, characters, and locations.
New details were shared on Baldur’s Gate 3 during the PC Gaming E3 2019 Conference. Larian Studio’s CEO Swen Vincke and Creative Director of Dungeon & Dragon Mike Mearls took the stage as the final guests of the conference.
Sven Vincke explained how he met with Wizards of the Coast back in 2014 and managed to convince them to let them have a try at a new Baldur’s Gate. It seems they exchanged tons of ideas back then and had a long chat on what to do with Baldur’s Gate 3.
Swen Vincke also shared how players will start Baldur’s Gate 3‘s story outside the city shown in the trailer, before entering it. The game will have Mind Flayers and multiple the “iconic creatures” found in past games. “Iconic characters and places” will be coming back as well.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was crafted with the D&D 5th Edition Handbook, with other things added on top of it, as it’s a video game, not tabletop.
Lastly, Swen Vincke added that Baldur’s Gate 3 is the game they always wanted to make, so they will be taking the time needed for it, to make sure it has everything right.
For now, Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled for a 2020 release. It will be launching on Google Stadia and PC. The game will be available first on Steam and GOG, and later on Epic Store.
