Larian Studios tweeted out this morning from the official Baldur's Gate 3 account that something was coming. We were treated quick 30 second trailer , opening with words from the traveling scholar and minor wizard, Volothamp Geddarm (Volo for short).  What followed was a montage of mo-cap actors, an orchestra, and people hard at work. Crescendoing to two simple words, "Something's Brewing" and a date, February 27, 2020.

Updates on this Baldur's Gate have been non-existent, with the last community update being back in June. In September, we did learn that Larian was considering the possibility of bringing the title to Switch.

With the reputation that Larian has for creating well-crafted and exciting RPGs, longtime Baldur's Gate fans were ecstatic when it was announced that they were creating a brand new sequel to the series.  As an avid Dungeons and Dragons and RPG player myself, I can't wait to see what news they share. I don't expect we will hear anything about when it will release next month. Larian has made it clear that it will launch when it's ready. I do, however, think it's a safe bet that on February 27 we may get our first look at gameplay, some new areas we will be exploring, and a look at the combat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a certain "miniature giant space hamster" will make a cameo appearance in the trailer as well.

There's no better time to get into the series either with Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 releasing recently on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. It may take a bit to get used to, but the story, characters and world are worth the investment. Baldur's Gate 3 is currently announced for the PC and Google Stadia.
