A recently posted FAQ from publisher Bandai Namco regarding the upcoming release of the remastered Tales of Symphonia leaves some speculation as to whether we should expect to see more games from the Tales series coming to modern devices. In an English-language translation of the FAQ section provided by Nintendo Everything, Bandai Namco inlcudes a question about other entries being remastered but stops short of giving an answer.

"We hear from a lot of passionate fans of the series around the world that they want to play old Tales games on the latest platforms," the translation reads. "We as a team thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. We are currently focused on the release of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, but we await your suggestions and requests in the future."

The action-RPG first released in August 2003 as a multi-disc release for the Nintendo Gamecube and became the entry point into the Tales series for a large part of its western audience despite being the fifth game released in the series. The first entry, Tales of Phantasia, was released in Japan in 1995 and didn't make its debut in the North American, European, or Austrailian markets until 11 year later — and even then it was only available on the handheld Game Boy Advance. As pointed out in the FAQ, Symphonia was the first game in the series that the publisher released to a worldwide audience.

Tales of Symphonia is the second in the series to receive the recent remastered treatment from Bandai Namco, with the first being the 10th installment, Tales of Vesperia. That game received its Definitive Edition in 2019, nearly 11 years after is original release. The FAQ points out that while Symphonia was originally released for the Gamecube, the remaster "is based on the PS3 / Steam version, with improvements to the graphics for the main characters, frame rate for some artes, and other things to enhance the original experience, with the goal of letting the current generation of players enjoyably experience the story of Symphonia."

As also pointed out in the FAQ, no content has been added or removed from the original version, aside from the addition of previously released DLC that will be included in the newest release. The release will only be for the original Tales of Symphonia and not the spinoff Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World, which continues the story of Lloyd, Collette, and other Symphonia main characters.

Instead of additional content, the publisher is promising increased frame rates, improved graphics and controls, and some quality-of-life improvements like skippable cutscenes. Tales of Symphonia Remastered will be available on February 17 for PlayStaion 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
