Bandai Namco confirms that they are already working on the next Tekken project, as the rivalry with Capcom's Street Fighter series still continues.

In a surprising announcement, Bandai Namco shared a brief teaser from an upcoming Tekken project, which is assumed to be the next big thing for the franchise fans.

During a brief panel at EVO 2022, Bandai Namco revealed an upcoming free update for Tekken 7, which will be available next week across all platforms. But then, the video cut into the iconic scene from the earlier Tekken games where Kazuya carries the body of Heihachi to the edge of a cliff and then leaves him to fall off. However, right after he dropped Heihachi, the trailer switched into a modern and highly detailed version of Kazuya, with a label telling "Get Ready" next to Kazuya's face.

This is definitely the next step in the Tekken franchise, but it remains unknown whether it is Tekken 8, Tekken Tag Tournament 3, or a remake of one of the early iterations of the series. More details are expected to be shared by Bandai Namco in the near future. There are still some important showcases such as Gamescom 2022 and The Game Awards 2022 up ahead. So, we can be hopeful about a full announcement of the project later this year.

EVO 2022 has been a great showcase for all fighting fans so far, with some incredible news on upcoming titles and updates for the existing fighting games. Before Tekken's announcement, Capcom revealed two new characters for Street Fighter 6 during the event. Also, we got to know more about the future DLCs and content packs for King Of Fighters XV in a brief showcase.

There is no doubt that 2023 could be an exciting year for all fighting fans. Capcom's Street Fighter 6 is the top release of 2023 in the fighting category, and with the new Tekken announcement, it might be the next big launch for fighting fans next year.

In addition to new releases, some existing fighting games such as Guilty Gear Strive, King of Fighters XV, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Multiversus will receive new content in the near future as well as 2023.
