Barbara Gordon (pictured above) is the latest character to be announced as part of the cast Batman's upcoming adventure, Batman: Arkham Origins. Barbara Gordon is the daughter of James Gordon, the police commissioner and Batman's law enforcement liaison. In the comics, she  eventually became Batgirl and fought alongside Batman for a time.

This came to an end when she was shot, and brutally raped by the Joker; the episode left her crippled. Unwilling to let that stop her, she became Oracle (the first super-hero in a wheelchair), a key source of information and detetive work for Batman and eventually the entire DC universe. It appears that she will either be playing a wheelchair-less Oracle or a similar role in Batman: Arkham Origins. She made audible appearances as Oracle in 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum and 2011's Batman: Arkham City.

Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC on October 25th, 2013. A Vita/3DS version of the game, Batman: Arkham Origins – Blackgate, is also in development by Armature Studio and will be released on the same day.
