As our own Allen Park posted with concerns to if his mind was betraying him a few days ago, Gotham City Imposters is in fact a very real game. A First Person Shooter set in the Batman universe might not seem like the most logical thing, but as pointed out players will join "The Bats" or "The Jokerz" as they fight each other for whatever reason. The game is being developed by Monolith Studios who you might recognize as the team behind F.E.A.R.

In addition to customizing your character you'll be able to utilize a wide range of gadgets and weapons as you would expect from Batman or The Joker (or to be more specific, people who idolize them). An official website has gone live that is currently under (de)construction, an interesting choice of words considering the game itself is deconstructing the main thing we know about Batman; he doesn't like guns.

Of course, the concept of a gang inspired by The Joker was explored in the animated show Batman Beyond and we saw Batman imposters in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, so the idea isn't too crazy. As Comics Alliance said, hopefully Batman shows up at some point and yells at you. The idea is kind of insane, but color me very interested.
