Battleborn Gets a Free Trial on PC, PS4 and Xbox One; Receives New Trailer

Battleborn has received a free trial that grants players unlimited access to all of the games competitive multiplayer maps and modes.

Gearbox Software and 2K Games have announced that their first person shooter MOBA mashup Battleborn is getting a free trial across PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting today. In addition to the news of the free trial, a new trailer and developer overview video were also released, which can be seen below.

The free trial of Battleborn will include unlimited access to all of the games competitive multiplayer maps and modes without any level caps. There is also no time limit on how long a free player can enjoy Battleborn. Every week there will be a new rotation of 6 of the games 30 heroes that can be used. Player account progression and hero progression will be persistent, which is great news if you want to remain a free player but retain your gameplay progress.

In addition to the free trial being offered, a new matchmaking queue has been implemented that will only allow players with Command Rank 19 and below to join. This was created to help new players or low level players who are returning to the game to fight alongside others within a similar skill level. Once a player reaches Command Rank 20, the novice queue will disappear and players will be pitted against other players in the regular queue.

To help new players and rusty returning players ease into Battleborn, some new training modes have been added to the game including an Incursion tutorial and a Dojo. The Dojo will allow players to test all 30 Battleborn heroes against waves of enemy minions, even if the player has not unlocked them yet.

Players will be able to unlock various items through the newly revamped Marketplace. In the Marketplace, players can purchase additional Battleborn heroes, cosmetic skins, taunts, gear packs, XP and loot boosters, additional loadout and bank pages, Story Operations and Battle Passes which allow players to access private matches. All of these items can be purchased with Credits earned in game or with Platinum which is Battleborn’s premium currency. Additionally, players can also purchase an upgrade to the full game which will grant access to all 25 base heroes, all eight Story Mode missions, and permanent access to private matches. Players upgrading to the full game from the trial version will receive in game credits for any duplicate content they purchased separately. Additionally, any hero challenges and masteries earned will carry over to the full game.

Anyone who previously purchased Battleborn and played the game at least once before the free trial announcement are also being treated with some Battleborn love. ‘Founder Status’ will be granted to those players and with it comes some pretty sweet rewards which can be seen below.
