Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone Won't Receive Any Updates As of Season 1

This is the end for Hazard Zone!

May 25, 2022

Battlefield 2042 developer, DICE, gives up hope on continuing to put more effort into Hazard Zone as they believe 2042 is no longer the right home for this mode.

Battlefield 2042 has been a pretty sad story for the game’s fans so far. Even those who liked the game and enjoyed it at launch started to get frustrated with DICE’s slow-paced post-launch plans to bring new content to the game. It took much longer than expected for the developers to tackle the basic issues, which resulted in a huge number of players leaving the game and either finding a new experience or returning to previous Battlefield entries.

However, those days are almost over, and you can expect Battlefield 2042 to finally begin to receive new content from the developers as DICE outlined its plans for the first season of the game after launch.

DICE Has Decided to Stop Supporting Hazard Zone Following the Lack of Active Players in the Mode

Despite having some great news for players such as improved map design and animations for Season 1, DICE also acknowledged a failure in Battlefield 2042 that is supposed to reach an end sooner than expected. According to the developer, they will stop supporting Hazard Zone with the arrival of Season 1 as they believe “it hasn’t found the right home in Battlefield 2042.”

So, instead of supporting a mode that barely has players, DICE is determined to dedicate its efforts to the other popular experiences in the game.

To be honest, it didn’t take too long for Hazard Zone to become a huge failure in Battlefield 2042. Only a few weeks after launch, Hazard Zone lost a lot of players to a point that matchmaking would take several minutes.

While some did believe that DICE and EA might decide to make Hazard Zone a free-to-play experience in the future, it seems like the situation is far worse than expected as the team has decided to discontinue the mode.

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is supposed to be revealed next month, and DICE has promised to bring a new map, a new specialist, and a lot of quality-of-life improvements for the game, including a Kaleidoscope re-design.

Battlefield 2042 is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
