After originally being revealed last summer at EA Play 2018Battlefield 5's battle royale mode Firestorm is finally slated to arrive in the multiplayer shooter at the end of this month.

EA and DICE announced today that Firestorm will be added to Battlefield 5 come March 25. This mode will be available to free for everyone and will arrive simultaneously across all three of the game's platforms.

As for other details on Firestorm, well, it's probably about what you expected. Firestorm will be playable either solo or in a team with the goal of being the last one standing. As the game progresses, the map will start to shrink more and more thanks to a circle of destructive fire collapsing on players. Firestorm will also boast 64-players in its game mode and the map will contain terrain that stretches across both land and sea. You'll also be able to take to the skies in some vehicles that will appear around the map.

Even though this might sound like just another battle royale mode, a new trailer for Firestorm was also released today alongside the release date announcement and it actually looks pretty great. Even though the trailer is entirely CG and contains no gameplay, it's a fun watch that accurately reflects just how crazy battle royale matches can be. Even if you're skeptical on the addition of Firestorm to Battlefield 5, I'd encourage you to check out the trailer. I came in with a lot of doubts about this mode myself but now I'm actually very excited to try it out. You can find the trailer in question at the bottom of the page.

EA has a lot riding on the addition of Firestorm to Battlefield 5 and even though it also just launch Apex Legends last month, it doesn't believe the two will compete with one another. We'll have to see if that rings true come month's end.

Battlefield 5 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
