Quite a lot has been leaked about the upcoming hard-bolied chapter of the Battlefield series Hardline, but according to Visceral Games Vice President and General Manager Steve Papoutsis a lot of what we saw is outdated.
Luckily Papoutsis did give quite a bit of fresh information about the game today, to quench our thirst for knowledge.
We learn that the team has been “cranking away” at the game and its concept for “several years,” so it’s not exactly a newborn idea coming out of nowhere. It will include “cool new weapons that play into the cops and criminal fiction.”
Papoutsis also mentions that there are more modes in the works in addition to the ones showcased in the leaked trailer and that there will be “a couple classic BF modes” as well as “a number” of new modes.
Finally, he shared something quite interesting:
It’s getting real. Our internal @Battlefield Hardline beta and registration testing for our E3 show floor demo starts today. Pumped up!
This tells us that the game is in a state of development advanced enough to be actually available in playable form for E3 attendees.
Personally, I’m quite interested in seeing this new take on the Battlefield series. What we saw in the trailer was extremely intriguing (the vehicle chase mode looked especially awesome), and looks like Papoutsis and his team have a lot more up their collective sleeve.
