On April 24, developer Harebrained Schemes and publisher Paradox Interactive will release their turn-based mech game Battletech on PC and Mac. With just one week to go, the game's developers have released Battletech's intro cinematic on YouTube for their fans' viewing pleasure.

This video shows humanity's progression (and arguably regression) since scientific breakthroughs in 2107. Society quickly spread across the universe over the following centuries, crafting large mechs and even creating new Kingdoms to rule. Unfortunately, this all starts to unravel in 2765, as war breaks out

The meat of the game's plot has players, who run a mercenary company, attempt to take back the throne of a deposed ruler through exciting but methodical mech warfare. That being said, this cinematic just gives us a taste of what lead up to that. If you want to learn more about the game's story, you can check out another recent video.
