It's been a little over two months since Zitz, Rash and Pimples returned to our screens. After a 26 year hiatus, Battletoads returned to both the Xbox One and PC in August and Rare and Dlala Studios' game seems to have gone down well.

Confirmed via a blog post, Battletoads co-developers Rare have shared that the title has had over one million unique players since launch. Celebrating the milestone, they thanked fans saying:

"Once again, we can't thank everyone enough for their kind words on the Battletoads' return and for taking the time to check it out, whether that's with Game Pass or from the Microsoft Store or Steam. We look forward to seeing even more reactions as players old and new continue to get swept up in the wild world of Battletoads!"

Alongside their thanks, Rare also shared some impressive stats from the first two months of the game. Of the three 'Toads, Rash has been the most selected with Pimple in second place and Zitz third.

Battletoads is often cited for its difficulty and since launch, players have died over 80 million times. This means the average player has faced defeat more than 80 times. More than half of the total deaths have come from the infamous Turbo Bike levels, with over 42 million deaths on these stages alone.

Battletoads is a game that encourages speedrunning, with players total playtime shown at the end of each playthrough. The world record time so far is a staggering 1:38:51, set by a player who goes by Fuzzyness in the Game Pass for PC Battletoads Speedrun Challenge.

For those who regularly frequent Sea of Thieves, the Fightin' Frogs Ship Set is still available. To unlock the set, all players have to do is complete Act 1 of Battletoads on the same profile that their Sea of Thieves progress is saved on.

If you've not played the game yet, it's available now on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One and PC. You can check out our review in which we scored the game an 8/10, saying "It’s a great example of what an Xbox Game Pass game should be and a very strong first major outing from Dlala."
